Davide Francesco Tagliapietra

It is with great sadness to inform you that on September 15, 2023 renown marine scientist and IRG member Davide Tagliapietra died after a long fight against his disease. Davide was at home surrounded by his family. This is a great lost for everyone who knew or worked with Davide, both from a personal and scientific point of view..

Davide was born in Venice and lived and worked there throughout most of his life.

Davide graduated from the University of Padova, in Padova, Italy. He had worked as an environmental biologist at CNR ISMAR - The Institute of Marine Sciences, Department of Earth System Sciences and Technologies for the Environment, National Research Council (CNR) in Venezia (Venice), Italy since 2001.

Davide worked on ecology of wood decay in marine environments and the development of standard protocols for testing the efficacy and toxicology of wood in marine environments.

At the IRG53 meeting in Bled, Slovenia in 2022, Davide was the Keynote speaker.
